What is this site themed after?
Hopefully the design of my site caught your eye. I’m not much of an artist, but I ended up liking it. So what actually is it?
If you’re not familiar with CDRP, it’s a roleplay game on Roblox that I own. This game has an incredibly passionate community, responsible for many original characters & pieces of fanart.
One character that has stuck with me for a very long time, though, is a character named Ur0beru.

In early 2024, a player in our community recounted a dream they had in which the entire game was taken over by an entity named Ur0beru. We were plotting out our April Fools update at the time, and this seemed like a perfect topic.
We blocked off the entire map, added a bunch of malformed morphs, and updated everything to be pretty vague.

After this, some other people ended up liking what little bones of a character we had, and made fanart of a design of Ur0beru. This particular design ended up being quite popular. It’s currently ingame as a morph. (Art by @mr_melon)

Special shoutout to this masterpiece made by @ItsPaperJah as part of an art contest. This is currently my profile picture on social media.

It’s hard to say what specifically made Ur0beru a favorite of mine. Part of it is that the character was built entirely by our community: first by MrJoey dreaming it, then by others drawing it after our April Fools event. But mostly, I think I’m just a sucker for things that aren’t simple to understand. Ur0beru is vague enough that people keep reaching for their own interpretations in the art they make of it, although I do notice a lot of Arabic theming (both from the logo having lots of curved lines, and the fact that a lot of designs seem djinn-like?). Maybe coincidental, but mythology is great for the same reason: lack of easy understanding. You’re forced to fill in the gaps, you know?
That aside, maybe you should know why I went from liking it to “being” it. My entire identity online used to be based around Mario. Like, from Nintendo. The time came recently where I told myself “I need to brand myself around something else”; Mario felt too childish. Ur0beru is simple with bold colors, has design elements that are easy to draw, and isn’t based off pre-existing IP. Pretty easy choice to make, even if a bit hard to explain initially, and I get to carry my community’s identity with me.
The decision to theme my personal site after it as well felt obvious. Black background with red highlights reads easy, doesn’t it? The waves on the bottom are meant to mimic the tendrils of the sigil.
